Boy Scouts Camp Climbing Tower

BSA Climbing Tower 1The Boy Scouts of America Capitol Area Council is gearing up for summer. The Lost Pines Scout Reservation has a 62 foot tall tower that has been under siege and needed repair. Not only do the Scouts hurl themselves at it and climb it, and “decorate” it with canoes as a prank, but giant Pileated Woodpeckers have been quickly boring 6″-9″ holes in it looking for a place to nest.

Since school is just out, the Scouts are ready for the challenge and fellowship of camp. A whole crew of climbing instructors and troop leaders volunteered to make needed repairs in time for the start of the summer camp season.

Eastside Lumber supplied the wood at cost to our customer and climbing instructor Eric Swenson to replace woodpecker-eaten boards.
